Premier League Betting

My first bet of the weekend is a double on Liverpool and Chelsea to both win. A £/€10 stake will see a return of over £/€30. Both sides are away with Chelsea at Villa and Liverpool at Sunderland. Sunderland will of course be buoyed by their performance last time out against United, but Liverpool know that recent results have let them back into the title chase and they will be gunning for 3 points, particularly after that Chelsea defeat. The showpiece game this weekend is undoubtedly the meeting of 2 unbeaten sides, the Giants and the Saints in New Orleans. Eli Manning has been superb this season behind an even better defence plus the Giant are an excellent road team. However, Saints QB Drew Brees simply throws lots and lots of touchdowns. I’m not sure people realize how good Brees is. I think he will make a statement this weekend. I’m backing the Saints to win and beat the spread. Saints (-3pts) at 5/4. (more…)

Premier League Betting Tips

One bet jumps out at me this weekend. Everton are evens to beat Portsmouth at Fratton Park. Everton look to have gotten their season back on track with a 3-0 defeat of Blackburn last weekend and a 4-0 midweek away win against Hull in the Carling Cup. Don’t be fooled by Portsmouth’s midweek win at Carlisle. They are a team in dire straits at the bottom of the Premier League without a point. Everton at evens looks a great way to double your money this weekend. Everton at Evens (more…)

NFL Betting Odds

Week 3 of the NFL and I have only 4 words for you. Michael Vick Ruff Ruff.

Vick is eligible to play his first game for his new team the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend following his stay in the human dog pound. Eagles number one QB Donovan McNabb is still nursing a cracked rib so Kevin Colb is likely to start at QB as he did last week. However, expect to see plenty of Vick who will appear mostly in the NFL’s hottest new thing the “Wildcat” formation. Vick broke all sorts of rushing records for quarterbacks while at Atlanta so expect him to thrive in the role. The Eagles face the hapless Kansas City Chiefs in Philly and Paddy Power is yet to put up the odds (waiting to see if McNabb is fit enough to start is my guess). However, back the Eagles to beat the spread. They will probably be -6pts in the handicap betting. They will win by at least 10 so get on it! (more…)

Premier League Betting Recap

In the Premier League we had our first really bad week. Arsenal failed to be beat an inspired Manchester City in a thriller. Arsenal are a different box of frogs without Arshavin. Elsewhere, my punt on Stoke to nick a draw against Chelsea looked like the call of the weekend, that is until Florent “I only try when I feel like it, despite the fact I’m paid millions” Malouda popped up with a 94th minute winner. Sickener! I boldly tipped a double with Blackburn and Pompey to win which would have meant a very good Saturday night out for yours truly. Rovers did there bit and when Pompey got it back to 2-2. Well you know how it ended. This blog and no doubt my local publican wish Portsmouth nothing but ill will for the rest of the season. (more…)
