Major League Baseball, Tuesday 22nd June
Anyone who followed the selections on Friday night will be aware of how close the 6/1 treble came. Unfortunately the Washington Nationals lost out in 11th inning after we’d napped the Mets to get the verdict over the Yankees and the Red Sox match-up to go over 10 runs.
There is fifteen games taking place in MLB tonight, fourteen of them are interleague games between the American and National league. The sole National League game of the night sees the San Fransisco Giants take on the Houston Astros at the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.
The most interesting match-up of the night sees the Atlanta Braves (on a five-game winning streak and argubly the best team in baseball this season) take on the Chicago White Sox (on a six-game winning streak). It’s impossible to call.

Boston Red Sox at Colorado Rockies (Coors Field)

The Red Sox go into this three-game series against the Rockies on a six-game winning streak after sweeping both the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers. Remarkably, Boston have not lost a series in over a month.
The Colorado Rockies have won six of their last nine games and have a decent home record at Coors Field in MLB this season but tonight they start with rookie Jhoulys Chacin, who is 0-4 in his last four starts for the Rockies and against such an in-form Boston side, it could back-fire.
Verdict: With the Red Sox star pitcher Jon Lester on the mound, the Colorado Rockies will be limited in the hitting department and it’s hard to see past a Red Sox victory (4/6)
Pittsburgh Pirates at Texas Rangers (Rangers Ballpark)
The Texas Rangers have won nine of their last 10 match-ups in Major League Baseball, allbeit against three slumping franchises, but they are currently the hottest team in baseball and against the weakest team in the National League, they are impossible to appose in this match-up.
Pittsburgh are on an 11-match losing streak on the road and face a Rangers franchise who is looking to extend it’s longest winning streak in five years.
Verdict: Texas Rangers Handicap -1.5 runs (4/5)
Elsewhere, the New York Yankees face the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks got the verdict over the Yankees on Monday night but with Pettitte on the mound for the Yankees tonight, their price of 20/29 looks appealing.
