Chelsea Good Value to Give City the Blues
All in all, I expect Carlo Ancelotti wouldn’t have been too disappointed about Chelsea returning from their Champions League tie in Milan with just a one-goal deficit and the Premier League leaders should return to winning ways against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
While the Londoners were facing Inter, City were being dumped out of the FA Cup by Stoke and being taken to extra-time in the process. Not only that, the dismissal of Emmanuel Adebayor means that they will be without the Togo international on Saturday, though Carlos Tevez is expected to return to action having been given compassionate leave to be with his girlfriend and new-born daughter in Argentina. City’s season is in danger of collapsing around them and Chelsea are not the team to be visiting when you are in that position. This should be a banker home win at 4/9.
Stoke City knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup at the Britannia Stadium a few weeks ago but the Gunners will have learned from that experience and can exact revenge in the Premier League this week. Arsene Wenger’s team still harbour realistic hopes of gate-crashing the title race and will be fired up against a City side that isn’t as accustomed to a busy schedule as their visitors. It’s 8/11 for an away win.
Blackburn Rovers have won their last four Premier League games at home but continue to struggle on their travels and I can’t see that ending at Liverpool on Sunday, where Fernando Torres could return to the starting line-up for the Reds. It’s 4/11 for a home win and that might be worth placing in a multiple bet along with Burnley, (6/5) likely to be too strong for crisis club Portsmouth at Turf Moor and Birmingham, who don’t give much away at St Andrews and can see off Wigan at 10/11.
Backing the draw at 23/10 could be the best option as Tottenham face Everton at White Hart Lane, however, while Sunderland and Fulham may also end all-square at the Stadium of Light (9/4), but Bolton are struggling to gain any momentum in their bid to escape the drop zone and look to be worth opposing again at home to fellow relegation candidates Wolves. Mick McCarthy’s team have carried more of a goal threat lately and are fairly priced at 16/5 to pile more pressure on the Trotters.
Don’t forget Paddy Power will refund all losing stakes on 4-folds and upwards if the bet is winning at half time but not full time.
