One bet jumps out at me this weekend. Everton are evens to beat Portsmouth at Fratton Park. Everton look to have gotten their season back on track with a 3-0 defeat of Blackburn last weekend and a 4-0 midweek away win against Hull in the Carling Cup. Don’t be fooled by Portsmouth’s midweek win at Carlisle. They are a team in dire straits at the bottom of the Premier League without a point. I also see some value in the Blackburn v Villa game. Richard Dunne will relish the aerial battle which Allardyce’s Rovers will provide. Villa’s pace will trouble Blackburn and they should also win the midfield battle. Villa to win at 7/5 looks more than decent value.
How will Man City react after all the hoopla of the Manchester derby? I don’t think they are certainties to beat West Ham who will be buoyed by their performance against Liverpool last week. The draw at 3/1 looks a good price.
My final tip is a bit of a long shot, but definitely worth a fiver. It’s Wolves! They had a good win against Fulham last week. Kevin Doyle looks like he is back to full fitness which is a huge boost. Burnely hammered Sunderland last week so Wolves will go into this game quietly fancying their chances in the Stadium of Light. Mick McCarthy will be itching to prove a point against the club he managed to relegation and will make sure his team are fired up for this one. Wolves to win at 4/1.
