Horse Racing Betting

An unbelievable weekend of racing with the Breeders Cup (see below) bidding to send flat racing fans into the winter on a high. The American showpiece is said to be the ultimate test of the equine thoroughbred and I look forward to seeing how the Europeans fair against the American horses. For jumping racing fans the Grade One Jwin.com champion chase is the highlight and is also supported by a nice card at Wincanton.

In the big race at Down Royal, the Jwin.com champion chase I strongly fancy Notre Pere to kick off his season in fine style. The big strapping son of Kaldako will thrive in the heavy underfoot conditions. He is some peoples favourite for the Gold Cup in March (with soft ground) so today should be a penalty kick for him. At 11-10, it’s a short price but a sure winner in my eyes.

In the 14:15 at Wincanton, another Cheltenham bound horse is running and again looks to have the race at his mercy. I think Celestial Halo will be a total different horse this year now he’s a five year old. He reached some incredible heights last year and with Ruby on board I have no doubt he’ll win this.

In the first at Doncaster (11:55) Aspro Marva very much catches my eye. The three year old son of Spartacus is starting to find his feet again after a mid season slump. His latest second place raised him five pounds in the handicap but it doesn’t look too harsh as he did pull 7 lengths clear of the third. The horse has so much going for him today, perfect draw, his trainer John Gosden is in great form and his ability to handle soft ground. He’s a half brother to the decent Deauville Vision who loved the soft going. With 20 runners he’s an Each-Way selection.

In the 14:40 at Doncaster, Icelandic is bidding to win this race for the second year running. The key to this horse seems to be the underfoot conditions and he’ll have conditions to suit today. I have no doubt he is the best horse in the race but his small trainer worries me along with another change of jockey. He should go well from a favourable draw though.

Later tonight the Breeders Cup will be kicking off at 6:45 and it’s sure to be a great spectacle with some of the best horses in the world taken part. It’s hard to gauge some of the American horses but Europe will have winners in the Mile and Turf races. In the Mile I’m going to put forward Zacinto. This son of Dansili has been improving four fold all year and may turn over the hot pot Goldikova. In the Turf I think Europe will win it but with only 8 runners in the field I’m going to put forward an American horse Each-Way to slip the field, Presious Passion. Also keep an eye on Viscount Nelson.
