With the affable Martin Jol at the helm, Fulham have seen a steady improvement in both their style of play and more importantly, results.
Fulham have quietly gone about their business over the last few years and are now an established Premier League team. Again, they’ll be hoping to bloody a few noses en route to a respectable finish but veteran keeper Mark Schwarzer has moved on to be replaced by Dutch international Maarten Stekelenburg with Chris Baird and Simon Davies also departing. Venezuela’s Fernando Amorebieta and Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng are among the summer recruits and the Cottagers will be seeking a good start. It hasn’t been an easy summer for Fulham fans following a change of ownership and there is no evidence that there will be any significant relaxing of the purse strings. But manager Martin Jol is a shrewd operator who will get the best out of his players and they should hold their own granted luck with injuries. Fulham are outsiders to be top London club but can be backed to avoid relegation and they have a decent start in the season handicap betting.
