Events
on which Bets are Accepted:
Bets are accepted on all
sporting events and special events as advertised on our web-site and
will be settled firstly, in accordance with the special rules issued
for such events and secondly, by our general on-line betting rules..
Bets are accepted for
all meetings held under the recognised Irish Turf Club, Jockey Club
and National Hunt Committee rules, Point-to-Point excluded [domestic
horse racing]. These are settled on a Double Result basis as detailed
in our Double Result section. Bets will also be accepted for horse
race meetings outside of Ireland and the UK [horse racing abroad]
as advertised on our web site. These are settled on the official result.
Bets are accepted
from selected greyhound meetings as advertised on our web site. These
are settled on the official result.
Settlement
of Bets:
Domestic horse racing bets are settled on a Double Result basis
as detailed in our Double Result section. Horse racing abroad bets
are settled on the official result.
Bets are settled to win unless each way is selected. An each way
bet consists of one bet to win on the selection and one bet to place
on the selection in accordance with the place terms for the event.
In single and accumulative bets on horse and greyhound racing place
terms will be determined by the actual number of runners that run
in the race. In any race of fewer than five starters, all place money
goes onto win.
For horse and greyhound racing only, the place part of each way
bets will be settled as per the following each way terms:
Handicaps
of more than 16 runners
- 1/4 odds
1-2-3-4
Handicaps
of 12-15 runners
- 1/4 odds
1-2-3
All other
races of more than 8 runners
- 1/5 odds
1-2-3
All races
of 5-7 runners
- 1/4 odds
1-2
All races
of less than 5 runners
- Place
money goes on to win
Please note that win only betting may only be available on selected
races. The place terms displayed on our website supercede these rules.
Place bets are not accepted unless at least an equal amount is invested
to win. Any place money inadvertently accepted in excess of the win
stake will be void. However on occasion place only betting maybe advertised
for selected events and any bets placed will be valid.
For the purpose of settlement each way accumulative bets are settled
win-to-win and place-to-place.
In a DEAD HEAT the stake money on a selection is divided by the
number of runners involved in the dead heat. The full odds are then
paid to the divided stake with the remainder of the stake money being
lost.
When a selection is made void or does not run, then in single bets
the stake will be returned. In accumulative bets the stake will run
on to the remaining selection(s) with a double becoming a single and
so on up.
Forecasts & Tricasts:
Forecasts: Forecast bets are accepted on all Horse and Greyhound races,
in the UK and Ireland, which have 3 or more runners. Forecast bets are
settled from the returns declared by the CSF or BAGS/BEGS F/C.
Forecast bets are void when:
One of the selections does not run.
Less than 3 runners take part in the event.
One of the selections is the Unnamed Favourite.
Tricasts: Horse and Greyhound (BAGS/BEGS) Tricasts are only accepted
on races for which a Computer Tricast dividend is declared. Tricasts
will be settled in accordance with this official computerised return.
Should a tricast include a non-runner, the total stake will be settled
as a computerised straight forecast on the remaining two selections
in the order they appear on the betslip. In the case of combination
tricasts, the total stake will be settled as a reversed straight forecast
on the remaining two selections.
Should a tricast include two non-runnners, the stake will be void.
Related Contingencies.
Multiple bets are
not accepted where the outcome of one event contributes wholly or partly
to the outcome of the other. If taken in error the stakes will be equally
divided where they clash. For example: €20/£20 double Chelsea
to win the FA Cup Semi-final 1-0 @7/1 and Chelsea to qualify for the
final @4/6 is settled as 2x €10/£10 singles. However where
the related parts of the bet are resolved at different times the bet
will be settled as instructed, with the price for the second or subsequent
legs being determined at each individual stage. For example: A €20/£20
double Chelsea to win the semi-final of the FA Cup and Chelsea to win
the FA Cup outright is settled as instructed with the price for Chelsea
to win the FA Cup outright being the next price on offer by Paddy Power
after the semi-final has been concluded. Should Chelsea lose either
the semi-final or final then the bet is a loser.
Athletics
Rules:
All bets are 'All in compete or not'
In the event of disqualification, the medals ceremony will count
as the 'weigh-in' and determine settlement. In the event of no medals
ceremony bets will be settled on a first past the post basis.
Baseball
Rules:
Listed Pitchers- All baseball betting is offered on the basis of
both listed pitchers starting the game. Both listed pitchers must
start the game and throw at least one pitch for bets to have 'action'.
If either pitcher fails to start the game for any reason, the bet
will be deemed to have 'no action' (i.e. void) and all stakes will
be returned.
Side Betting- Winners and losers for betting are official after
five innings of play unless the home team is leading after 4 ½
innings. If a game is 'called' or suspended, the winner is determined
by the score after the last full inning (unless the home team score
to tie, or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which
case the winner is determined by the score at the time is called.).
Stakes will be refunded if the home team ties the game and it is then
suspended.
Total and Runline Betting- When betting on total runs (over/under)
or runlines the game must go to 9 innings (8 ½ is the home
team is ahead) to have 'action'
All games must start on the scheduled date for bets to have 'action'.
If a game has been postponed or cancelled before its due start time,
all bets are deemed 'no action'.
We reserve the right to suspend any or all betting on a game at
any time without notice. (This may happen for example if a key player
is not in the starting line-up for any reason)
Extra innings if played will count in the final result.
Boxing
Rules:
Should a contest be postponed, bets will stand for thirty days,
inclusive of the original date for the contest. Stakes maybe refunded
before the re-arranged contest by mutual consent.
Round-By-Round Betting- Where a boxer fails to answer the bell for
the next round, his opponent will be deemed to have won the contest
in the previous round. If for any reason a points decision is awarded
before the full number of rounds are completed, bets will be settled
on the round in which the fight was stopped. Bets which nominate 'to
win on points' will only be deemed winners if the full number of rounds
are completed.
Basketball
Rules:
At least 43 minutes of play must elapse for NBA bets to have action.
At least 35 minutes of play must have elapsed for NCAA Basketball
bets to have action.
For betting purposes, the winner of a game will be determined by
the official result at the end of the game after regular time and
any period of over time played.
All games must start on the scheduled date for bets to have action.
We reserve the right to suspend any or all betting on a game at
any time without notice. (This may happen for example if a key player
is not in the starting line-up for any reason).
Handicap betting: The result used for settling is the match result
adjusted for the handicap line available at the time the bet is struck.
E.g. Sacramento +9 v Utah -9, Result: Sacramento 81-87 Utah. Sacramento
win on Handicap. Where scores are level after accounting for the handicap,
a "Push"
Cricket
Rules:
Betting on matches affected by the weather will be settled in line
with the official result provided that, in the case of Test matches,
at least one ball has been bowled. Bets will be void if a Test match
is abandoned due to weather before a ball has been bowled or a match
is abandoned due to any other reasons other than weather. If no draw
price is offered and the match is drawn dead heat rules apply. If
a side forfeits their 1st innings in a test match, all bets specifically
relating to the 1st innings are void.
With Test Series betting and Series speciality bets the full number
of Tests must be played, otherwise all bets are void. Bets on individual
Tests will stand.
Outright betting - Limited Overs Matches: In matches affected by
adverse weather, bets will be governed by the official competition
rules. When no price is quoted for the tie and the official competition
rules do not determine a winner, bets on the outright result will
be void.
For 'one-day' matches in the event of a tie or draw match bets will
be void unless a price was on offer for the tie. Bets are also void
if the match is abandoned or void.
Top Series Batsman/ Bowler: All in play or not.
Top Batsman betting applies to the first innings only unless otherwise
stated and bets stand irrespective of the number of overs bowled.
Bets placed on any player not in the starting eleven are void. Bets
on selected players who do not bat are losers.
Football
Rules:
Bets are accepted on all football where www.paddypower.com offer
prices. Where a bet is accepted on a match where no prices are on
offer then that selection will be treated as a non-runner, but the
remainder of any accumulative bet will stand provided there are not
fewer than the stipulated minimum number of matches in the bet.
All bets on football are automatically on the basis of 90 minutes
play unless otherwise stated. 90 minutes play includes time added
on by referee for stoppages. This includes all special markets such
as first goalscorer, number of corners, number of goals etc. Settlement
will be at the price prevailing at the time the bet was placed and
confirmed.
Dates and kick-off times of matches shown on our website are for
guidance purposes only. Bets will be accepted up until the advertised
kick-off time. If a bet is inadvertently accepted which includes a
match after it's actual kick-off time, the match will be treated as
a non-runner, but the remainder of any accumulative bet will stand
provided there are not fewer than the stipulated minimum number of
matches in the bet.
If the venue of a match is other than is indicated on our website
the bet will stand provided the match has not been switched to the
opponent's ground, in which case the match will be declared void.
An unplayed or postponed match (ie. not played on the scheduled
day) will be treated as a non-runner for settling purposes. If an
accumulator is reduced by non-runners the bet will stand irrespective
of the minimum requirements laid down in these rules.
The minimum number of selections allowed in any football bet is
as advertised or as detailed at the head of each list on our website
coupons. Bets which do not meet the minimum requirements, except as
provided elsewhere in these rules, will be void. There is no maximum
limit to the number of 'home' or 'away' selections allowed. However
the maximum number of draws which can be taken in any one accumulator
is five. Should a line containing more that five draws be accepted
inadvertently the stake will be apportioned to allow for the correct
number of fivefolds and the bet settled accordingly.
Any match, which is abandoned before the completion of 90 minutes
play, will be void with the remaining selections being settled irrespective
of any minimum requirements. This ruling applies to all lists with
the exception of bets involving first goalscorer, which will stand
provided a goal has been scored prior to the abandonment.
For the purpose of deciding results on 'Handicap Betting', a number
of goals (or half goals) is added to, or subtracted from, the total
goals scored by the away team. Settlement of any handicap betting
will be at the special odds shown alongside the match(es), using the
actual score in the match adjusted for the handicap.
Bets taken on first goalscorer will be void if that player does
not take part in the game or if he comes on after the first goal is
scored. Bets on last goalscorer will be void if that player does not
take part in the game or does not come on as a substitute. In the
event of a dispute over the award of a goal, settlement will be based
on the majority verdict as the results section in the following day's
edition of the Irish edition of The Irish Times, Irish Independent,
Daily Star, Daily Mirror and The Sun (For Saturday matches Monday's
papers will apply.
If the results sections of the above papers do not contain the
names of the goalscorers for matches outside the UK, then settlement
will be based on information obtained from the national newspapers
of the relevant country.
'Special spreads' are defined as (i) Number of Corners, (ii) Number
of Goals and (iii) card index. Bets on special spreads are only accepted
on games for which we advertise them. In the event of an abandoned
match all bets on special spreads will be void unless the maximum
quote has been obtained. For example should a customer back 12 or
more corners in a match and that match is abandoned when 13 corners
have already been taken then that bet is a winner with all other bets
on corners losers.
Bets on 'Number of Corners' refers to corners taken and not corners
awarded.
Bets on 'Card Index' are settled as follows: Yellow Card = 10 points;
Red Card = 25 points. If a player is shown a yellow card and subsequently
sent off this counts as 35 points.
Bets on 'Number of Goals' include own goals.
Restrictions apply as to what special spread selections can be
combined with in accumulative bets. This will be indicated on the
website.
All other soccer betting offered is settled firstly, in accordance
with the special rules issued for such events and secondly, by our
general on-line betting rules.
Scorecasts (First player to score/correct score doubles) are now
available on selected matches. To win you must successfully forecast
both the player who will score the first goal in a selected match
and also the correct score after 90 minutes play. If a player is selected
who comes on after the first goal has been scored or does not take
part in the match, the bet will be settled as a correct score single.
In the event of a match being abandoned, bets will be void unless
a goal has been scored prior to abandonment, when bets will be settled
as singles on the selected first goalscorer at the appropriate odds.
In the eventuality of all goals in the match being own goals, all
bets will be settled as correct score singles at the correct score
odds only.
Greyhound
Racing Rules:
We will accept bets for greyhound races advertised on our website.
Where a 'no-race' is declared and is subsequently re run bets are
settled on the re-run.
Double Result concession does not apply to greyhound racing.
Greyhound names, where shown, are displayed for information only,
with all bets being settled on the trap number. If a reserve dog runs
all bets stand, but bets taken at Early Prices are settled at SP.
In the event of a non-runner in a race with Early Prices, all bets
placed before the withdrawal will be settled at SP.
Horse
Racing Rules:
Domestic horse racing bets are settled on a Double Result basis
as detailed in our Double Result section. Horse racing abroad bets
are settled on the official result.
Double result means if your horse is First Past The Post you get
paid. However should your horse be awarded the race or promoted to
a place as a result of a Steward's Enquiry or objection which is announced
before the weigh in or winner alright, we will still pay you.
Double Result does not apply to the following:
Forecasts or Tricasts
Bets which rely on tote dividends i.e. Jackpots, Placepots, which
are settled rules of racing.
Horse
'Match Betting' or 'Betting Without The Favourite' which are settled
rules of racing.
Where
a horse is disqualified for taking the wrong course or for carrying
the wrong weight, or for failing to weigh in.
Races
that are declared void.
Where there is an official correction to the result by the judge
or S.I.S prior to the 'weigh in' or where a race is declared void
before
the 'weigh in' for which rules of racing will apply.
All
bets on horse racing outside of Ireland and the UK are settled on
a rules of racing basis only.
Ante-Post bets are accepted and settled on a Rules Of Racing Basis
only. Ante-Post bets are accepted on the basis of 'all in run or not'.
Therefore selections not taking part in the race concerned are losers
Ante-Post betting ceases at 10.30 am on the day of the overnight
declaration stage and all bets placed after that stage will be 'non-runner
no bet' and Tattersalls Rule 4 may apply.
Where a horse is withdrawn before coming under starter's orders,
or is officially deemed by the Starter not to have taken part, stakes
on that horse will be refunded and winning bets may be liable to deductions
in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4. The rate of deduction will
be based on the following scale:

will apply only to bets at live show prices prior to the announcement
of the withdrawal.
The above scale will also apply in the case of non-runners in Early
Price races and will be used for other events where we specifically
advertise, either in these rules or at the event itself that Tattersalls
Rule 4 (abbreviated to Rule 4) may apply.
In the event of a false start etc. resulting in a race being re-run,
'Under Starter's Orders' is negated and stakes will be refunded on
the remaining runners subject to Rule 4. The number of runners taking
part in the re-run governs place terms.
Walkovers and void races count as races but any horse so involved
will be treated as a non-runner for settling purposes.
Where we offer a special price for a named jockey double, treble
etc. and we also list the horses involved then that bet will stand
irrespective of whether the jockey does in fact ride the horse in
question.
Where we offer a special price for a named jockey/trainer/owner
double, treble etc. if there are any non-runners in any leg other
than the horses specified then the bet will be settled at Starting
Price.
In the bets outlined in 10 and 11 above if the starting price return
is greater than the price offered then the bet will be settled at
starting price. This does not apply to any specials including a 'placed'
selection. In the bets outlined in 11 and 12 above if any of the named
selections is a non-runner then the bet will be settled on the remaining
selections at SP.
G.A.A.:
All bets will be settled on 60/70 minutes play respectively at the
prices advertised. The term '60/70 minutes play' refers to the period
of play which included time added by the match officials for stoppages,
but not scheduled extra time. Any subsequent enquiries into the match
result or later match disqualification will be ignored for settlement
of match bets which will be settled on that days match result.
Any match which is abandoned before the completion of the match
i.e. 60/70 play will be void. This ruling does not apply to first
goalscorer bets which will stand provided a goal has been scored prior
to abandonment. Number of points bets or number of goal bets will
be void unless the maximum quote has been obtained at the time of
abandonment in which case bets will stand. Additional rules as detailed
under Football Rules will also apply to GAA events where applicable.
Extra time does not count unless otherwise stated.
Any match postponed to another day will be void.
Lottery
Rules :
Bets placed on the Lucky Numbers game are settled based on the numbers
drawn by the official Lotto draw shown live on RTE 1 or Network 2
each Wednesday and Saturday.Bets placed on the UK Lottery game are
settled based on the numbers drawn by the official UK Lottery draw
shown live on BBC each Wednesday and Saturday.
In the event of a double draw, all bets pertaining to the lottery
that held two draws will automatically be settled on the first draw.
All lottery bets on a specific draw must be placed and confirmed
before the first number is drawn. If, for any reason any bets are
placed after the first number is drawn, those bets will be void and
the stakes returned, win or lose.
Should a lottery introduce a second draw to take place immediately
following another draw, bets timed and dated for that draw will stand
against the first full draw and the second draw will be deemed a non
event.
If a lottery draw time is moved to another time within 12 hours
of the advertised time of the draw, all bets on that draw will stand,
unless the bets placed are late, thus in breach of rule 4.If a lottery
moves a draw by more than 12 hours of the advertised time, all bets
on that draw will be deemed void and the stakes returned.
Maximum Payments. The maximum payout to any one client, group/syndicate
of customers, including bets from the same source in respect of one

that he/she or they stay within these limits.
Paddy Power general betting rules will govern any situation not covered
in the rules.
Golf:
Should a tournament be shortened, or otherwise affected due to weather
conditions the official result will be used when settling all bets,
including tournament, Match and Group bets, regardless of the number
of rounds played. However should there be no further play after a
bet is struck that bet will be void. In the event of a postponed event
all bets stand.
Ante-post bets (bets placed prior to the Monday immediately preceding
the event) are 'All in compete or not' and non-players are losers.
Bets placed from the Monday of that weeks events are 'non-player no
bet' and we reserve the right to deduct the equivalent tattersalls
rule 4c to reflect returning stakes on non-players. Any players who
withdraw after they have teed-off are considered as players and are
therefore losers, except in the following circumstances:- For outright
betting, bets placed on players after they have teed-off are void
provided that the player takes no further part in the event after
the bet is placed, eg bets placed after the second round and the player
withdraws before the third round - such bets on the withdrawn player

Outright
Betting:
When more than one player shares the same lowest score in a tournament
and there is no play-off, win and place bets are settled by the normal
dead-heat method outlined in the Settlement of Bets section.
In the event of a play-off the result of the play-off will determine
the winner of the tournament only. Even if three or more contestants
take part such a play-off has the sole purpose of deciding the winner
of the tournament and the relative finishing positions of unsuccessful
contestants is not affected for Outright, Match or Group bets which
are settled as detailed below.
For each way bets dead heat rules apply. For example, if each-way
terms quoted for a tournament are for the first 4 places, the 3 players
tying for third place will be deemed to have dead-heated for third,
fourth and fifth place with 1/3 stake lost and 2/3 stake settled at
full place odds for each way bets on those players.
72
Hole Group Betting & 72 Hole Match Betting:
In 72 Hole match betting and 72 hole group betting the winner will
be the player with the highest placing at the end of the tournament.

miss the cut the player with the lowest score at the cut will be deemed
the winner.
In 72 Hole Group Betting in the event of a tie dead heat rules apply.
In 72 Hole Match Betting the odds for a tie are included.
In 72 Hole Group betting in the event of a listed player being withdrawn
prior to the first round then Rule 4 will apply.
In 72 Hole Match betting in the event of a listed player being withdrawn
prior to the first round then that match is void.
Top European Players, Top US Player etc are settled in the same
way as 72 Hole Group betting.
Three
Ball Two Ball Betting:
In 2/3 ball betting the winner will be the player in the pairing
or group with the lowest score over 18 holes.inner.

ball are void. However should a player retire during the round he
will be deemed to have played.
In the event of a 2/3 ball being re-arranged all bets in that 2/3
ball will stand as per original pairings/groups.
Odds for a tie are offered in 2 ball betting, therefore in the event
of a tie bets on both players are losers and bets on the tie are winners.
Dead Heat rules apply in the event of a tie in 3 ball betting.
Motor
Racing Rules:
The podium presentation will be deemed as the equivalent of the
'weigh in' for settlement purposes, with subsequent disqualifications
disregarded.
Official FIA classification applies at all times. All drivers who
complete 90% of the race laps are deemed as classified finishers.
However all drivers are given a ranking, and for the purpose of match
and positional betting this ranking shall apply.
Any driver who attempts to qualify for the race proper and fails
to do so shall be deemed to have taken part, and finished last of
the drivers taking part. If two or more drivers fail to qualify, their
qualifying lap times will determine their placing in the race result.
The start of the race is deemed to be the signal to start the warm
up lap. All drivers are in play from this point on.
For race match betting the driver who finishes in the highest position
is deemed the winner. In the event of both drivers failing to compete
the race, match bets will be settled on the official Formula 1 result.

Bets on the Formula One Championship and Constructors Championship
will be settled in line with the total FIA points tally immediately
following the podium presentation of the final race of the season,
with subsequent disqualifications disregarded. Where there is a tie
for the World Drivers title, bets shall be settled according with
most races won, followed by most podium finishes as per FIA rules.
However for the purposes of match bets, betting without, and other
derivative markets dead heat rules shall apply.
From the formation of any race market, bets are considered to be
non-driver no bet. Any bets on drivers who fail to take part in the
race for any reason other than non-qualification shall be deemed void.
We reserve the right to deduct the equivalent Tattersalls' rule 4
(c) to reflect returning stakes on non-drivers.
For the Highs and Lows market all drivers whether they finish or
not are classified (given a finishing position) by the FIA.
1sr driver to retire is a bet on which driver will be the first
to retire from the race on Sunday. The bet begins with the signal
to start the warm up lap, and the first driver to retire will be deemed
to be the first driver to leave the race after this signal.
One lap wonders is a bet on how many driver will retire from the
race before they complete one lap proper of the race (not the warm
up lap). The bet begins with the signal to start the warm up lap.
