In order to help you bet sensibly we have put in place a number of measures to assist you to gamble sensibly:

Setting your deposit limits:
Betting can be an exciting leisure activity and we encourage our customers to have fun, but not to bet beyond their means. Therefore we offer customers the option to set a preferred maximum deposit limit and frequency. If you wish to set a maximum deposit level and frequency go to the "Responsible Betting" section of "My Account", and here you will be able to set daily or weekly deposit limits. A decrease in your maximum deposit level or frequency will take effect immediately, but an increase in your maximum deposit level or frequency will take 24 hours to take effect if you currently have a daily limit applied and 7 days to take effect if you currently have a weekly limit.

Self Exclusion:
When a customer requests that their account be closed due to the fact that they believe they are gambling excessively, Paddy Power will close the account and will do all that it can to prevent new accounts being opened by that customer in the future.

Account History:
Customers are able to view their "Account History" in the "My Account" section of the site, where they will get a full overview of all bets they have placed and the amount staked on each bet.

Paddy Power also works in conjunction with Gamcare, the UK's National centre for information, advice and practical help regarding the social impact of gambling. Paddy Power has been awarded the GamCare Certification to acknowledge their achievement in implementing the GamCare Code of Practice for Remote Gambling.

Paddy Power has achieved high standards in player protection and social responsibility and recognises the need to assist their customers to bet responsibly. To achieve GamCare certification Paddy Power has implemented the following practices:

Gambling Problems

  • Escape from Reality:
    Do you ever use gambling a way of ignoring stress in your in life or even pick you up when you feel down?
  • Chase losses:
    Do you ever try to win back the money you lost by increasing the size or frequency of your wagers?
  • Conceal Involvement:
    Do you ever hide how much or how often you gamble from significant others?
  • Unsociable Behaviour:
    Have you ever committed fraud or theft to get money to gamble with?
  • Ruin a Relationship/Opportunity:
    Has gambling ever ruined a personal relationship or an occupational or educational opportunity?
  • Bail-out:
    Have you ever needed others to relieve a financial problem created by gambling?

Blocking Access to Gambling Sites

If you do feel that you have a problem we would recommend that you consider blocking access to all gambling sites from your PC by installing blocking software such as GamBlock which works by detecting data used by gambling sites, shutting down your browser and delivering a warning message every time you attempt to access such sites. This service costs $69.95 (approx €58 or £40) for a 1 year licence and you can find further information on their website, www.gamblock.com.

Responsible Gambling: 18+

It is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to open an account or to gamble with Paddy Power.

Paddy Power takes its responsibilities in this regard very seriously, and we carry out electronic age verification checks on customers who use payment methods that are available to persons under the age of 18. Anyone under the age of 18 found to be using this site will have any winnings forfeited and outstanding bets voided, and are liable to be reported to the police. Gambling Therapy is an on-line service for those adversely affected by gambling. The following services are available at www.gamblingtherapy.org

On-Line Help Room

The function of this room is to enable a gambler or anybody else who is affected by someone's gambling to access help and support from an advisor. The advisor looks with the client at the options of help that are available to them. This is done by the advisor working on a one to one basis (in an advisory capacity) thus assessing the client's needs. The advisor is then able to point them in the best direction by offering them the appropriate agencies etc.

Forum

The forum is a place where anybody and everybody can discuss and debate any concerns or issues they have with gambling and can receive feedback and general support from all who use it. The Forum is constantly moderated by the Professional Gambling Therapy team.

On-Line Support Groups

The function of these rooms is for the client to be able to speak with others in the same or similar position as themselves giving and receiving support to each other. The rooms are facilitated by the GT Team Leader. There are various groups running each day at various times. On most occasions the advisor is able to pass the client on from the help room to the support room which encourages the client. The Groups currently in operation are for, compulsive/problem gamblers, family and friends and under 18's.

Buddy System

A member of the Gambling Therapy team meets with their Buddy (a recovering gambler or someone affected by someone's gambling) online to give them one to one support once a week for a maximum of 12 weeks.
