Verdict: Every horse brings major interest. Alderman was a late eye-catcher in the mud in the Derby but today's going promises to be radically different, so it may prove best to concentrate on the three who contested the Queen's Vase on fast ground at Royal Ascot. Del Maro (second choice) was beaten a nose in that 1m6f Group 2, while Galiyan raced pretty wide before going down 3l in sixth. The vote, however, goes to fourth-placed POINT OF LAW who might have more potential. Major early interference did not help his cause at Ascot and he came widest into the straight while Del Maro steered a middle-to-inner path as both of them mounted major efforts from the back. With Point Of Law looking as if he still had something to learn that day, whereas it was an eighth race for Del Maro, the positions might now be reversed.[Richard Austen]
