Anyone that has wagered on sport before with an online bookmaker may be familiar with in-play betting, via which you can continue to place bets on the most popular markets even after the action has got underway.
Paddy Power also offers live esports betting, so you can still get some skin in the game even after your favourite games have headed in play.
You’ll find the latest live esports odds available in our in-play section.
These live esports prices are continuously updated in play to reflect the drama as it unfolds, so you can lock in a value bet or two before the odds change when a goal is scored or a map is won.
We set our live esports betting odds according to the probabilities of something happening, so prices fluctuate based upon what happens on screen. One of the perks of in play esports betting is that you can watch the action live to see how the game is shaping up early on, before wagering accordingly.
The available esports live betting markets differ from one game to the next.
Take FIFA e-sports, for example. Here, the most popular betting options include match winner (or draw), total goals, handicaps plus individual markets for the first and second halves of a game.
This is similar to the pre-game betting, so if you prefer to see how the players are faring early on in the proceedings, esports in play betting might just be for you.
For games like CS2 and Dota 2, other in play markets are available. You can bet on which team you think will win the game, or back the favourite with a minus handicap (e.g. -1.5 maps) or the underdog with a plus handicap (e.g. +1.5 maps).
You can bet on how many maps will be required, the correct score (typically games are the best-of-three maps) and who will win either map one, two or three individually.
The first thing to do is to track down the esports in play market that you want to wager on. Flick through the list of games already underway via our in-play tab, or find your favourite teams and players via our competitions button.
Once you’ve found what you’re looking for, you can place your first live esports bet…
The question of how to bet on in-play esports can be answered in three simple steps.
Once you have found the selection you want to wager on, click on the odds next to the name of your pick. This will add them to your betslip, which you’ll see pop up on screen.
Enter your stake amount in the box, which will update the ‘potential returns’ part of the betslip. Double-check the details – especially your stake amount – and once happy, tap to place your bet. Remember: in-play odds can change by the second.
