What are the top Golf tournaments to bet on?

The biggest golf event to bet on is the US Masters, which takes place in early spring every year. This tournament is a bit like Wimbledon or the Grand National in the sense that people who aren’t necessarily seasoned golf fans get involved as Masters mania sweeps the sporting world.

There are, of course, other top golf tournaments and betting markets you can also find during the sport's biggest weeks of the year. For example, you can find the odds for the USPGA Championship betting, US Open betting, the Open Championship betting, and Ryder Cup betting. These are all the best golf competitions on the calendar that continue to attract a global audience of millions.

What are the best golf betting markets?

The most popular bet to make in any of the golf betting markets is undoubtedly one on the outright winner of a specific tournament. This is where you will find the most value but as briefly touched on, you’ll stand a better chance of winning if you’re in the know during the build-up.

Alternatively, each-way is a great option and certainly one of the top betting markets if it’s too close to call. Essentially, each-way betting is like an insurance policy if your chosen golfer doesn't win the overall competition as there will be an option that covers you if they just miss out and instead finish in the top five. Your stake will double but you’ll have a better chance of walking away with a payout of sorts.

Some of the other options that belong in the best betting markets category include first-round leader, head-to-head betting between players during a round, and also selecting which player from a specific county will finish highest at the end of the competition called top nationality betting.

What is spread betting on golf?

Spread betting is when you’re given the option of betting on whether a certain player will finish on, above or below the offered spread odds. So, let’s say Tiger Woods is backed to do well at the Masters, he will be given a price of finishing the tournament after four rounds having hit between 270 - 273 shots. It is up to you to decide whether that will be the case or whether it will be lower or higher than the spread on offer.
