Tips
Verdict: Zanahiyr led home an Irish one-two in this race last year and there is every chance he can score again but he was very disappointing in the Grade 1 Iroquois Hurdle in May when only seventh of ten behind Zabeel Champion. Therefore, preference is for stablemate WESTERN FOLD, who like Zanahiyr was given a recent prep on the Flat. He had some top class form over fences last season notably when winning the Galway Plate on quick ground and when finishing the campaign with a Grade 1 novice chase victory at the Punchestown Festival back in May. If translating that form to the American obstacles he should be tough to beat. Zabeel Champion is the top-rated home challenger and was given a very gentle prep at Foxfields 13 days ago on his first run since May. Expect a much improved effort today. Mr Percy was a decent horse for Joseph O'Brien and he gained his first big win Stateside in September when winning the Grade 1 Jonathan Sheppard Memorial Handicap Hurdle (2m3f) at Saratoga. He has plenty of scope and should improve again for the step up in distance given he was a Grade 1 novice hurdle winner over 2m4f. Fil D'Or (formerly with Gordon Elliott) usually runs well in these races when often having to give lumps of weight to rivals, something which seems harder to do in the USA. Therefore, this level-weights contest should suit.
