Verdict: The only runner with winning form under rules this term is Makinbecon (second choice) so he needs to be considered despite two lesser runs since, but there should be more to come from the unexposed CAPTAIN CONNOR who showed improvement for his new yard when second at Stratford. The other contender with more improvement in him is the lightly raced Devon Red who steps up in trip on his handicap debut. Mother Ship went close last time but has had plenty of chances.
