Tips

Verdict: From a stable who has won two of the last three runnings of this (both 4yos), AUTUMN BOY is likely to put up a big showing. Placed in both the Randwick Guineas and Doncaster Mile here earlier this year, he also kept coming up against the force that is Sheza Alibi when beaten, but avoids that top-class filly in this, so his claims appear obvious granted a clear run. By far his most interesting rival is Well Written, who comes into this seven from seven in New Zealand, with two of those victories at Group 1 level. The trip is no problem, it'll be just how she fares against brand new opposition under a new rider. Attica, who picked up the top-level Spring Champion Stakes almost a year ago here over 1m2f, looks to have been primed for this and gets to race off a nice weight back up in trip. Blinkers are also reinstated (he won when they were first put on). Ceolwulf won this in 2024 (also sixth in 2025) and barely runs badly. He wasn't far behind a couple of top mares last time, so his only problem is trying to give weight to the field. Fully Lit was runner-up 12 months ago under today's rider to the sensational Autumn Glow, and has no doubt had this as a target ever since. [David Toft]
