Verdict: Supplicate bidding for a five-timer has to be the highest-profile candidate and this lightly raced 3yo could easily have more to give, but three of the others also come here on a high. Obito and Pol Roger, two of them, might prove better on good ground (or softer), but 3yo MAGICAL MERLOT showed his effectiveness over 1m2f on good to firm at Newbury. That was his first appearance at this trip, in a steadily run race admittedly, but he kept on well as if the extra distance suited him and his dam is a 1m2f/1m4f winner by strong stamina influence Nathaniel.
