Tips
Verdict: This race presents arguably the toughest call for punters at the meeting: how much to believe in the prowess of an exceptional horse when circumstances urge caution? The three-year-old Englishman was wildly impressive in two 7f Saratoga races in the summer but has had foot problems since and has a wide draw to overcome on this drop down to 6f. The bottom line, as with all horses, is the odds available, but would anything approaching 6-4 signify that his setback is still troublesome? The obvious alternative is the Japanese challenger T O ELVIS who underlined the paucity of top older sprinters in the US with an easy victory at Churchill Downs in May. He has not raced since but this is not unusual among Japanese challengers for major global prizes. Liam Smith (second choice) is an exciting horse worthy of consideration. [James Willoughby]
